Chroma-Q® Color Block 2 Performs for Leading Production & Hire Companies

Chroma-Q® Color Block 2 Performs for Leading Production & Hire Companies

September 29, 2009 15:22

The first shipment of the new Chroma-Q® Color Block 2™ LED fixture has gone straight into the rental stocks of leading companies in the event, broadcast and performance lighting sectors. Early adopters include DBN Lighting, Richard Martin Lighting, West End Studios and Sterling Event Group Ltd.

Manchester-based event production specialist, DBN Lighting, was the first customer to purchase the new fixture. The original Chroma-Q Color Block™ model has been a firm favourite with the company ever since they invested in their first stock. The inventory of 300 units is their main workhorse fixture and still proving a good investment over four years later. The company initially purchased 60 Color Block 2 units after seeing a demo, yet were so impressed with the product’s performance when the units were delivered that they ordered an additional 60 units there and then.

DBN Lighting Director, Stephen Page, commented: “What we like about the units is that they are extremely bright for their size and produce a fantastic range of colours from really bright saturated hues to much more subtle pastel shades, including a proper white white. The homogenised optics give a beautifully even output and quality of light useful in many applications and they also look really good when seen front on. The increased light output is also impressive. The fact that we can use this fixture alongside our existing Color Block stock is another major bonus, as it means we will continue to get revenue from the old units.”

London-based film and TV lighting specialist, Richard Martin Lighting (RML), decided to invest in the Color Block 2 fixture after having trialled it with Lighting Designers on various BBC and ITV television shows.

Steve Wells, Operations Manager for RML, commented: “The decision to invest in Color Block 2 was simple; we had the demand from a number of Lighting Designers who we demonstrated the product to, liked it and requested it again. Richard Martin Lighting prides itself on listening and reacting to our clients requirements. Excellent customer service is the core basis of the company.”

Lighting Director Lee Allen, who trialled the Color Block 2 on the BBC’s ‘Blue Peter’ show, commented: “I loved the Color Block 2 units. I could make them the right length for the set; they are small and a prominent, good amber.”

Other major customers include Sussex-based event production company, West End Studios and Manchester-based event production company, Sterling Event Group Ltd.

Richard Bowden, Managing Director of Sterling Event Group Ltd., commented: "We have had the Color Block 2 units for about five months and they have been a popular addition to our LED stock. As well as being a popular dry hire product, they have been busy on our own events. The product is a robust and incredibly versatile fixture with a high output and stunning colour reproduction, especially white, and all from such a compact unit."

The Chroma-Q Color Block 2 LED fixture combines an exceptional second generation feature set with the original model’s modularity and wide range of mounting accessories, making it even better value.
