Chroma-Q Inspire Mini LED House Lights Reduce Running Costs for Maranatha Church

June 17, 2015 06:13

North America - Chroma-Q Inspire Mini energy-efficient, full color-mixing LED house lights have taken the place of old incandescent fixtures at Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Minnesota and are expected to save the organisation up to $6,500 USD per year in lighting running costs.

The Church is based in Forest Lake and offers services to the local community in its 100 feet by 100 feet auditorium, known as ‘the Sanctuary’.

Stefan Svärd from Minnesota-based Audio Video Electronics (AVE) oversaw the project in collaboration with Maranatha Pastor, Bob Headley and Church Administrator, David Morley. After impressing the Church by an onsite demonstration of the product's lighting capabilities, Stefan conveniently installed 24 of the Chroma-Q® Inspire™ Mini fixtures into the exact holes which used to house the old incandescent lights in the Church’s main hall, using the unit's optional recessed trim ceiling installation kit.

“AVE brought the Inspire Mini house lights to the table. We used lighting rendering software to calculate the placement, lenses needed and overall foot-candles the lights would have,” explains Stefan. “The Church team was immediately impressed with the Mini’s incredible colors, but also the great white light that they offer - which matched nicely with the room's existing stage lighting - and the fact that they’re convection cooled, so there's zero fan noise.”

Maranatha decided to take advantage of a generous rebate program being provided by AVE in conjunction with the Church's power utility company, to take out the old house lights and replace them with the more energy-efficient Inspire Mini LED fixtures.

Church Administrator, David Morley continues: “After installing the Inspire Minis, we went from 24,000 watts of house lighting power consumption down to 1,800 watts in our Sanctuary, and are anticipating up to $6,500 in savings per year, which is obviously fantastic!”

This figure is based on 48 x 500 watt incandescent fixtures (a total load of 24,000 watts) being replaced by 24 brighter and more efficient 75 watt LED fixtures (a total load of 1,800 watts).

This equates to up to a 92.5% reduction in the Church's house lighting power consumption. Over time, the resulting savings in energy consumption will pay for the cost of the house lighting upgrade. Coupled with the new creative possibilities provided by the fixtures' full color-mixing capabilities, it's a win-win outcome for the Church.

Pastor Bob Headley adds: “Since we were going from incandescent to LED, the ability to change the color was a big selling point, alongside the fact that we could control each light individually as opposed to groups of lights, which we previously had to do. The experience has been great - it’s a huge progression from our previous lighting system and we’re still exploring all of the ways to use color to enhance the look of, and create seamless room lighting for, our services.”

AVE purchased the Inspire Mini fixtures from Chroma-Q North American master distributor, A.C. Lighting Inc.

The Inspire Mini provides a choice of beautiful whites, soft pastels and bold saturates - all from one fixture. By incorporating industry standard DMX-512 control, the Inspire Mini is able to integrate seamlessly with an existing stage lighting infrastructure and can be controlled by any DMX-supported lighting console.

Available in the Inspire Mini™ compact version, or more powerful WFX award-winning full-size version, a choice of Black or White exterior housing, and a range of beam angles, the Inspire range is suitable for almost any type of entertainment or architectural space - large or small.

The Chroma-Q range of premium performance solutions is designed and built to exacting standards in North America, and has been adopted by many leading designers and specifiers for some of today's most demanding and prestigious lighting applications. As a result of this, the brand has received awards from several industry associations.

Other recent venues investing in the Chroma-Q Inspire house light fixture include the Celebration Church house of worship in Jacksonville, Florida, the Valley Creek Church in Texas, and the historic Pieterskerk building - formerly a Church - in the Dutch city of Leiden.
